Welcome to KENOSIS, the college and young adult ministry of Parkway Baptist Church. We focus on being an effective arm of Parkway Baptist Church, instead of creating a church within a church. We desire to be disciples of Jesus Christ who make other disciples to the glory of God and the edification of His church. In Ephesians 4, the Apostle Paul points to the reality that the crucified Christ has risen and has given gifts to men so that they might equip the saints for the work of ministry. With these marching orders, KENOSIS focuses on making disciples and equipping college students and young adults for the work of ministry and is under the leadership of the college minister, who is a trained and ordained minister of the gospel.
We exist to make mature disciples in Christ and to prepare young men and women to be life-long feeders and servers. We desire for our men and women to be feeders by being able to understand God’s Word, the Bible, in a way that they will grow in their relationship with the Lord until He comes back or takes them home. Also, we desire that they would not only be consumers, as our society leads them to believe, but that they would would be servers. By the time these disciples exit these crucial years at Parkway, they will have learned to serve their local church, show hospitality to others, and focus on working towards the evangelization of the ends of the earth.
We meet on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. as we gather to grow in Christ. We eat a free meal together for about 30 minutes and then study the Bible and pray in small groups. After, we will often spend time in fellowship just talking.
Join us also on Sunday, the Lord’s Day, at 9:00 a.m. as we gather together for Sunday School. We spend time going through books of the Bible and learn how all of it points us to our need for a Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ. When we get done with Sunday School, we join together with the rest of our Parkway family and rejoice that there is a Savior for sinners and His name is Jesus! Together, we worship the God who would make a way to repair our broken relationship with Him and each other.
In addition to meeting on Thursdays and Sundays, our college minister loves to disciple people and would be interested in getting to know you and seeing you grow in Christ. He meets with students individually and in small groups. Scott views himself as a shepherd of this group, in addition to being the main teacher, and desires to spend time with and see the group grow in loving and looking like Christ.
